The WorkCover Ombudsman is an independent Officer who investigates complaints about the way services are delivered in the South Australian WorkCover Scheme.
The WorkCover Ombudsman also provides information and assistance free of charge to anyone experiencing difficulties with the management of a workers compensation claim.
Role of the WorkCover Ombudsman
The WorkCover Ombudsman:
- Reviews issues relating to the operation of the Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1986 (SA) and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Investigates and seeks to resolve complaints from injured workers, employers and other interested parties affected by the WorkCover Scheme.
- Encourages and assists WorkCoverSA and employers to establish their own processes for handling complaints.
- Reviews decisions by compensating authorities to stop workers' weekly payments to ensure that they have a proper basis.
